Forex - Weekly outlook: 08.13 - 08.17

The Turkish lira fell as much as 20 percent on Friday, sending panic indexes sharply higher and sending stocks across the globe tumbling. The Turkish lira had a "butterfly effect", with major non-us currencies such as the euro falling and the dollar surging.
Mr Trump signed new laws aimed at tightening foreign takeovers and export controls.
In European trading on Tuesday (August 14), sterling fell as sharply as 58 points against the dollar in the space of two hours after the release of the three-month average salary index for June, which was just 2.4 per cent at an annual rate, below expectations of 2.5 per cent.

The dollar index continued to pull higher, rising as high as 96.93, its highest level since June last year, near the level of 97 as the crisis in the Turkish lira, which has spread to other emerging markets, continued to boost demand for the dollar as a safe haven.
The dollar fell as low as 96.41, having risen to a high of 96.99 overnight, after news that trade and economic talks between China and the United States would resume. The euro, sterling and other G10 currencies rebounded across the board.
Following the overnight threat of further sanctions against Turkey by nuchin, earlier in the Asian city on Friday (aug 17), trump again warned Turkey!
